Snippetings

Terms and house rules

What Snippetings is

Snippetings is a place to share short, funny bits of conversation overheard in everyday life. Everything on the site is posted anonymously by members of the public. By using Snippetings or sharing a snippet, you agree to these terms.

The content isn't ours

Snippets are written and posted by visitors, not by Snippetings. We don't write, check or endorse them before they appear, and they don't represent our views. We aren't responsible for what visitors post, but we do remove content that breaks these rules once we know about it.

Everything you post must be legal

You are responsible for what you post. You must only share content that is lawful where you are and in the UK. That means no:

  • defamation, or anything untrue that could harm someone's reputation
  • harassment, threats, or abuse
  • hate speech, or anything that mocks people for their race, religion, disability, sex, sexuality, gender identity, age or appearance
  • private or personal information, or anything that could identify a real person: names, workplaces, addresses, phone numbers, emails, social media handles or photos
  • sexual content, or anything involving children that isn't harmless
  • material you've copied from somewhere else, such as song lyrics, jokes from comedians, or text from books and articles
  • anything that encourages crime or self-harm

House rules

  • Keep it kind. Laugh with people, not at them.
  • Share things you actually overheard, written in your own words.
  • No swearing, no names, no pointing at anyone.
  • Up to five snippets an hour, please.

Reporting and removal

If you see something that breaks these rules, tap Report a snippet at the bottom of the home page, then choose the snippet. Snippets are taken down automatically after a few reports, and we review reported content. We can remove any snippet at any time, for any reason, without notice.

Anonymity and your data

We don't ask for names, emails or accounts. To limit spam, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address and the date. It can't be turned back into your address, and it changes every day. Your browser remembers which snippets you've smiled at or reported, and that stays on your device.

Letting us use your snippet

When you post a snippet, you give Snippetings permission to show it on the site and the app, and to share it on Snippetings' social media, free of charge and without credit. You can't edit or delete a snippet after posting it, because there's no account to link it to you.

No guarantees

Snippetings is provided as it is, for fun. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from using the site or from content posted by visitors.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Carrying on using Snippetings means you accept the current version.
